In addition to their individual celebrations throughout the year, the nine Historically Black Colleges and Universities that were founded in 1867 will hold a united celebration during the week of September 24—30, 2017. The United Sesquicentennial Celebration will include parallel activities held on each campus from Sunday, September 24, to Tuesday, September 26, 2017. These individual institutional activities will be followed by a United HBCU-9 Sesquicentennial Summit on the campus of Morgan State University from Thursday, September 28 to Saturday, September 30, 2017. The Summit will include a Thursday evening United HBCU-9 Choir Concert; a Friday Torch Relay ending at an historical Civil Rights site on Morgan’s campus; an Opening Ceremony; a Leadership Roundtable Discussion with HBCU-9 Chancellors and Presidents; a Luncheon with keynote speaker; a Fireside Chat of HBCU-9 Chancellors and Presidents with government and foundation leaders; and a Closing Breakfast with keynote speaker on Saturday.
